Sheet Sets

Sheet sets are designed for comfort and complement your favorite mattress, delivering a restful night’s sleep. We might take them for granted sometimes, but bed sheets that are too hot, too cold, too scratchy, or too stiff are anything but just right. At Ashley, our twin sheet sets, queen sheet sets, and king-size sheet sets use premium yarns and can include extra features, such as deep pockets to fit large mattresses and corner straps on fitted sheets to ensure they don’t bunch up during the night.

When you’re shopping for sheet sets, pay attention to the thread count, or the number of vertical and horizontal threads per square inch of fabric. A higher thread count means softer sheets and often a higher price. Midrange thread counts of about 400 to 600 are more budget-friendly without sacrificing softness.

Here’s a general overview of different fabric types in bed sheet sets:

• Percale – Made from carded and combed cotton yarns (what a tongue-twister!), percale has a lightweight weave that gives it a crisp, cool feel and a smooth finish.
• Satin – Made from synthetic materials such as acetate, polyester, or nylon in a high thread count, satin sheets have a silky feel and a shiny finish. Some require dry-cleaning.
• Sateen – More durable than satin and pricier, these soft-weave cotton sheets have a smooth finish and luxurious feel.
• Microfiber – Microfiber is a tight weave of synthetic fibers, such as polyester. These blends are soft and resist wrinkles and allergens, but some sleepers find them too warm for their taste.
• Pinpoint – More a weave pattern than a specific fabric, these sheets combine two threads and materials such as linen or Egyptian cotton. They have a coarser texture than percale, but pinpoint sheets are crisp, durable, and resist pilling.
• Jersey – These soft, stretchy sheets use the same knit cotton or cotton blends as T-shirts.
• Flannel – These 100% cotton sheets have a napped finish that creates that fuzzy feeling and helps retain heat, making them cozy in chilly weather. Flannel sheets are measured in grams per square meter, or GSM, instead of thread count.

Sheet sets typically include a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, and one to two pillowcases, depending on the size of the mattress. Those sold as part of  bedding sets come with a coordinated comforter, duvet, and shams.

To hide under-the-bed clutter or add an elegant touch to the bedroom, try a  bed skirt in a neutral color to match your sheet sets. To round out your bedroom oasis, look for other  bedding essentials , such as mattress protectors that protect against spills and wick away heat, microfiber pillows, and memory foam wedges that raise the upper body, creating a comfortable posture for bedtime reading. This gentle elevation also helps reduce acid reflux and snoring.
